We Had a Blast at ReMark2010 Social Media Seminar!

Hi everyone i just wanted to let you know how much fun we had at the ReMark 2010 Social Media Seminar,(realestatemarketingsummit.ca/) PowerHouseHD was very proud to be part of such a ground breaking event and of course we enjoyed meeting agents, speakers and industry professionals from across the country. My take away from this event is that we as a company have to think globally but act locally in our community. We must find a way to engage our clients on a social level, give our clients choices, listen to them and let them ask as many questions as they need to to make informed choices and work together with them as a cohesive partnership. I think that we are on the right track, but there is always more work to do and social media is a great way to engage and converse with potential clients. Let me tell you about an event that can change your business for the better !

Hi everyone sorry for the long hiatus, my wife gave birth to our second child and as you can imagine life has been a little upside down ever since, thank you to everyone for all your well wishes. I had the honour of attending this event last year before the course got official approval by RECO and it was quite an eye opener for me in terms of what can be achieved with just a little time and ingenuity with social media. I really enjoy TED Conference!

A few years ago, I accidentally stumbled upon a website that would forever change the way in which I view the world! This website was http://www.ted.com/ which stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design which is a community made up of some of the most creative and forward thinking minds of our time working together to tackle some of the toughest issues this planet has ever faced as well as introducing us to new technologies and stunning scientific breakthroughs. If you have fifteen minutes a day to devote to TED it can really change your outlook, I highly recommend it.

The obvious reason why I like TED is it gives me a glimpse into a world of infinite possibilities especially in technology and design, but one of my favourite talks is not about Technology it is about education! It has long been a belief of mine that as good as our Education system is in preparing our children for the challenges of tomorrow, it is failing our children in creating a drive to succeed and creativity. I think that in order for our children to be successful and thrive in business, technology, design or any other discipline, they will need to be "out of the box thinkers". This sentiment was echoed when I watched a talk on TED by Sir Ken Robinson, here is a full bio on Sir Ken Robinson:

So what does this have to do with our Business and what we do ? Well I was reminded once again of the importance of creativity and in challenging the "status quo". We strive to do that everyday here at PowerHouseHD, and for the most part we are moving forward but TED reminds me of how much more we have to do to survive and thrive in Real Estate Marketing in the 21st Century. I have heard comments from business analysts and industry critics that there really is not much creativity in Real Estate Marketing, that it has flat lined! I strongly disagree I think that this is one of the most exciting times to be in our business with new technologies bringing consumers closer to information they need to make informed choices and Realtors having such a wide and varied choice of Marketing tools to get their listings and brand out there, I see a very exciting future and PowerHouseHD is proud to be a part of that.
